Market day!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper,
string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance M&M's for the team.
We were much better at the second challenge because …
We worked as a team and communicated with each other better than the last challenges.

                                 Here is my Science Template
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a
technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?
Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this…

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was…
Finishing the Challenge well with my group and having fun while doing it.

Next time I would…
Want to be more organised and get more things ready quicker and it would be much
better if we had more prizes so we could have more people to come and to get more money
for the market, the thing that I wouldn't change is helping out my stem team group if they
needed help.

My Awesome School Performance!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is where you are from and what different things like different foods and different things people where to. Culture is, Culture is where you are from and what different things you do, like dancing and also different foods to.

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I have written my own legend called How the lion got his main, in my own words.

Then we made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection:
For our production I contributed by Dancing and doing the poi

I think the show might impact on others by teacher them to share our culture story’s with other people.

What I learned about working with others was we have to work together to make something really cool.

Hope you enjoyed my blog post and enjoyed reading about my awesome school performance
bye bye!

My Awesome Swimming Adventure!

Aloha everyone and welcome to my blog post today I will be talking about my awesome adventure at Graham Condon Swimming Pool. So we did only three strokes to work on and they were

Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke.

So what I learnt was when we do tumble turns you are not aloud to breathe before you roll. On the last 3 days Wednesday and Thursday we had life jacket on and we did safety things, then on Thursday we went on the boat and on Friday the third day we had to swim in our Pyjamas but sadly I wasn't there because I had something more important on, but here are the photo the teachers took

Hope you enjoyed reading about my Swimming Adventure bye bye.

1. So in England we eat something that is called a butty yea I know it might sound funny but there is something called a butty there. So in a butty you have bread with butter and hot chips and this is how it looks

2. So in Ireland there is a food that I think you will know and that is a potato and if you have not tried roast potato's well you have to try it this it what they look like

3. So In Scotland there is a food that is called a Neep and it is a vegetable and Neep is kind of like swede and when you cook Neep it looks like this
